Insanity,
Craziness,
Madness,

Call it what you will;
Is a beast,
A ferocious monster,
With insatiable appetite.
It feeds on my pain and misery,
And it tears me apart.
I'm lonely,
Cold,
And isolated.
I'm blinded by the darkness,
Deafened by the echoing silence.
In my mind,
I die every day,
Slowly and painfully.
Much like a flower,
Given too much water,
I drown in the sea of my tears,
And I'm wilting,
Like a neglected flower losing its once precious petals.
Insanity has its sharp talons etched into my very being,
It's sharp beak tears me open and asunder.
It clutches my mind,
And rips apart everything I hold dear.
My wits,
My foolish hope,
And my endless wishing for better days,
For a better world,
For the return of those dear to me,
Is all that I have left.
But Insanity smothers those thoughts daily.
I cling to anyone I have,
Afraid of losing them,
But yet,
I wish to flee their presence.
I've got nothing to lose,
But I still hold onto everyone.
Is that not paradoxical?
it's not romantic,
My pain is not a pretty painting.
I'm a male Ophelia,
Without the physical death.
I breathe,
But I'm dead inside.
It's not romantic,
My agony, much like suicide,
Is not romantic, nor is it selfish, or funny.
Insanity is not funny,
It's a vile beast,
Tearing you apart from within,
And,
Just like a war,
Or a battle field,
There is no winner.
Just painful loss, and misery.
If "Misery loves company",
Then call me Misery.
You think it's funny.
But it's not;
It's painful,
It's heart breaking,
And, much like Ophelia,
Its prey is simply misunderstood.
I'm just like Ophelia,
Without the romanticism followed by an untimely death.
Think twice before you call Insanity romantic,
Or funny.
Think twice,
For Madness does not discriminate.
This is basically my image, my personal image, of insanity; This is what insanity is, this resides within me (Though some say it's presumptuous of me to call myself insane, that "crazy" is more accurate, but oh well). The fact is; Whatever internet tries to tell you, insanity is not a funny thing, and, contrary to what perverse art tells us (Victorian Era as well as today: For shame!) it is not romantic: Nor is suicide.
Please, let us stop the romanticizing of insanity...
